Hey guys, I just recently found this site and have started reading it and it really has sparked my interest in having a turbo E30. I used to post at the old E30sport.net (I see a lot of old members are here and its cool to see you all). I currently own a '94 325i that I am planning on selling and with the money I am going to buy an E30. I owned an E30 before, but it was a crappy '84 325e, so this time I'm going for a 89-91 325i(s), manual of course with 2 doors. Anyways, I've been doing several searches on turbo conversions and have learned a lot but I still have several questions.

First of all, how much money should I be expecting to pay for the whole turbo install and setup (I will be having a shop do the work because I really don't have the skill to do it myself) I am shooting for 275-300 wheel hp.

Second, where can I find a parts list for everything I need or a really good write up with complete instructions (with pics) and everything for doing this project (to have as a reference if I was to have a shop do it)

Third, should I stroke the engine beforehand or just go with the regular M20B25 engine and turbo that?

Fourth. should I rebuild the engine (the E30 I'm looking at has 144k miles) before I do the turbo or during it or what?

Fifth, how fast should I expect the car to be, I hoping for 13's in the quater mile and 0-60 in around 5 secs.

Thanks for all of your help guys!! I greatly appreciate it!

You don't have the skill? That's why you do it yourself and gain the skill and knowlege. Do it yourself (get help along the way, since you can't do everything like some fabricating.) A shop will charge you a shit load to put in a custom turbo setup, so unless you have like 4K, that is out of the question.

275-300hp is pretty hefty, and you will more than likely need some type of aftermarket fuel management, like MS, which me and others are using. I think TCD is using an adjustable FMU, but then you are compromising how well you can tune the fuel curve.

You will need to spend around 2000K, maybe a little more because of the gauranteed live and learn expense that goes into a project like this. I have spent over 2K on my system in the past year, however I only have about 1450$ worth of parts on my car. I got lots of used parts from ebay, and got some rediculously good deals. I have enough parts probably to make a 215rwhp turbosystem if you would like to start out small to learn the basics, and then upgrade your system over time.

There are plenty of turbo'ed guys here to help you out along the way, so you dont' have to be worried about where to ask questions, and getting them answered quickly.

Here is what i would estimate the cost is for different hp levels and how much it would be doing a lot of the install yourself.

200rwhp: 900$
215rwhp: 1000$
230rwhp: 1200$
250rwhp: 1500$
270rwhp: 2000$
300rwhp: +2000$$

This is based off of how much i had in my system at those respected levels, and what others have spent. Hopefully this should give you a clearer picture of what you need to expect.
