AHHHH Dont hurt me!!!

alright i know this has been posted many times. But I have a rather different question.. Does anyone know where i can find parts for the 5 lug conversion? I have searched everywhere. Junk yards, Other forums, ebay. Nothing pops up. Some people tell me they just use the front E36 M3 suspension. and its a direct fit... then other people tell me it needs lots of modification to fit. The rear i would like to have a M coupe rear suspension set up. But... I cant find m coupe parts anywhere! unless i get them from the dealership which is an arm and a leg! Does any one have any of these items for sale or knows where one might aquire these items?
thanks
Jason

go on car-part.com

get everything up front from a 98+ m3, brakes/spindles/hubs/control arms/struts. You will need to use the e30 strut bearing, be prepared to get frustrated getting the nuts torqued down in that though. You will need to get a deep 22mm socket and grind it down with a dremel until it fits, but not too far that you break it when torque is applied. You should use e30 m3 control arm bushings. Springs are e30.

I would buy the bilstein monotube struts for the m3 and it will have the tabs for the m3 swaybar links. Enjoy.

318ti one of the z3 variants or e30 m3 is pretty much it for 5 lug rear, i have a few 318ti set ups at the yard but shipping would suck

The 318ti rears will have some different brackets for the brake lines and abs stuff. you can use the 318ti brakes, these fit the regular e30 trailing arm if the output shaft and hub are 318ti though.

I spoke with treehouse yesterday and they said that they are working on brackets to be able to mount the e36m3 rear brakes to the 318ti trailing arms. That would be cool as I have a set.

i spaced the rear abs sensor with washers on mine because the sensor wanted to contact the tone ring on the axle but the m-coupe axles are huge so that may be part of the problem

the front e30 sensors needed a little grinding to the tab to position the pick up correctly, you basically align the wire with the bolt hole, the e30 unit is at a different angle and still picks up the signal but not as strong as the rears so the couple mph of a stop the abs pulses, i hooked my scope to the sensor and found the strongest signal ground the tab and secured it with a washer under the bolt and now the abs is perfect, maybe even better then before because in the process of figuring out the problem i went around the car balancing the output of each sensor with shim thickness and comparing the output on my lab scope, the rears are real sensitive to shim thickness differences, more then a couple thousandths and you see a big change but it all paid off in the fact that i can get deep into the brakes in the dry and the abs doesn't kick in till i actually start loosing traction, instead of that premature crap that some stock systems can do

Yeah i acutally saw those two threads before posting this one. Would you happen to beable to salvage up another m coupe rear suspension set from your salvage yard? Seems like everyone says Front e30 m3 suspension is better then e36eh? I figure i can run the e36 front sway with the front e36 suspension swap

i don't have another mz3 rear. no running the e36 front sway bar with the front sump m20 oil pan, as for sway i am still running the stock e30 bars in the stock positions (i haven't had time to move the outer front links to the struts like a e30/e36 m3) and it corners pretty flat, i need to switch to the strut mounts for the front bar and maybe install the e30 325ic bar i have stashed (1mm larger then the e30 m3/325is) which set up is better? hard to say it's been a while since i flogged a e30 m3, id say at a buck twenty five or so my car is now atleast as stable as i remember the last one we had if not better, id love to graft the stretched roof from the trashed m3 shell at the yard onto my car but it's not worth the effort

I contacted a yard yesterday that had the rear end for a 3.2L on the z3 platform. He said for the brakes, trailing arms, and half-shafts we were looking at about $1450.

I guess a lot of people like to upgrade their 2.5L z3's to this setup.

Yes it is beefier and allows for the bigger rear brakes, but I will wait for the brakets that allow for e36 m3 rear brakes.
