I am just wondering if this is why my car is idling so shitty on startup.

warmup enrichment, and ignition advance.

if it were bad, would it cause really poor warm up idle, like be too rich or too lean? I'm thinking of picking one up from the dealer on the way home tonight.

bad coolant temp sensor usualy makes cold start just fine, but normal driving temp is doggy, bogs and hicups, and if the engine is warm it makes it almost impossible to restart when warm because its to rich, usualy when a coolant temp sensor goes bad, it tells the ecu its realy realy cold, like -27F

well, that couldn't be my problem. the idle only calmed down when it got warm, and started right up when it was still warm. when i started it cold the next day, it went through the same crappy warm up cycle. what's the prob?

Also, when it's idling crappy, i can't give it ANY throttle, or it will like try to die, and not rev any higher than 2K. It's weird.

maybe if i just get megasquirt running, it will solve my fuel and idle problems, since it gets rid of some of the stock sensors and ICV.

are you still running an afm?

well, i don't when megasquirt is installed, but i do when i take it out. I am rewiring ms tonight, and putting in the new values, and see if it starts.

i still have yet to get it running with MS. I get it running when i take it out, but i can't even drive it or give it throttle it runs soo bad.

hmm. I just put a brand new headgasket with new 12.9 headbolts torqued to 60ft-lbs, so it can't be the headgasket. Plus, my crappy idle happens when all of the stock components are installed, who knows how well it will run when it's starts with MS. please god let it run :(

could be a bad air temp sensor in the afm?
