This thread has been dead for like a year now, but i figure i would update it somewhat. I have had ALOT of fun with this car. The car doesn't put much power down at all, expecially going through a power robbing th400 but i'm not worried about dyno numbers
Heres a small video of the car being dyno'd and at the 1/8th mile. The camera guy sucks but oh well. lol. The fastest i trapped at the track was like 94mph, and thats with getting in and out of the nitrous. I know its well capable of going little faster spraying through the shifts. I also have some more racing videos of me racing some 400-600rwhp cars and beating some and barely getting pulled at the end by the 600rwhp mustang. Enjoy! http://videos.streetfire.net/video/G...ack_649513.htm |

looks like fun, but I would think you can get a lot more out of that setup.

I'm sure i could, but for what little power its putting down and being "able" to run about mid 11's i wouldn't say thats to bad.
That setup was stock everything with no tune just a 100 shot thrown on it. For having a stock th400, stock converter, stock engine, stock rearend, stock suspension ( besides some heated front springs, and some eibachs in rear that sat to low. |

Maybe try dropping the front subframe and put the engine in from the bottom, though you should probably have a lift for that sort of operation. In the pics it's hard to tell if the cyl heads are too wide to fit between the frame rails. Just an Idea. I used to drop e46 M3 engines with the trans attached out from the bottom (when we had issues with spun rod bearings and cool stuff like that.) once you get that chunk of metal mounted up front you should put two turbos back where the muffler mounts. Then you could tell people it's a stock LS1!

estimated total cost of swap? I just can't believe that's all she's putting down, no offense, and not that you really need all that much more... but damn. If I ever stray from the m20 I'm boosting... installing turbo as I post... it would be for an m30+boost, it's just the only other motor that feels period correct in an e30 to me, don't like newer motors in the older cars for the most part. Great work though, very fun build, remember seeing it long ago, still cool today
plus m30's are just so effing dirt cheap... I mean bavauto shells them out for like 500 a pop, and they bend people over with markups on everything lol.

I dont understand why i need to drop the engine? The 5.3's are only 285hp stock. I would rather say i put small numbers down on a dyno and whoop the shit out of people. LOL!
Over the winter i have plans to make a custom turbo kit for it. It will be under the hood, with the small amout of room i have ill get it to work tho. I was building a 5.3 turbo swapped e36, and got most of it done then decided to just sell the car. I sold the engine and stuff seperate but i have the turbo stuff sitting around. Figure i could put it to use. I will only push about 6psi for now with the 100 shot probaly. Should net me near 500rwhp. Should be fun, but im not worried about being the fastest car or anything, i just like to have something different and i love the way a turbo car pulls and sounds. :P |

Well if you're hitting 11's you're up there with some heavy hitting e30's anyways... something to be said for loads of NA power vs boost. 1.6 60ft's are grrrrreat
![]() I am semi contemplating stupid tall gearing and heading down for the texas mile to try and set a nice top speed for an e30... wonder what the fastest, not quickest, e30 is in the world.... perhaps next year...more money, more boost, more power... more fun ![]()
