ok, well i just bought a z3 shifter, since you already tried the z4 i wont. hopefully i can have it all put in next weekend. my total cost for everything so far (i have everything so as long as nothing beaks or nothing else needs replacig im done buying things) the total spent is $96 from pelican, i got all the replacement parts from there minus the delrin bushings from uuc, those were $32, the used z4 shifter was $42.50. those prices include shipping bringing the total to $170.50, give or take a dollar.

When replacing the shifter with a z3 lever, what bushings do I order form UUC? As far as I can tell, there are 4 bushings total that can be replaced. My guess is that #1 is the one ordered from UUC.

The answer is #1. $25 is quite excessively high for two bushings in that area though. So I just made my own from aluminum stock.

well i tried to do the shifter today, i dont think it's possible to do it with out the tranny removed, if it is possible, it would be very very difficult and time consuming. i'm probably going to wait on the shifter till i need a clutch. i'm going to talk to my dad tomorrow during the christmas party and see what he thinks.

i did work on the car today though, i got some fog lights hooked up and installed, also changed a couple light bulbs. allright so not much was accomplished.....and to top it off when i was backing down the ramps i forgot to take the wheel chalks out from behind the rear wheels and so the wheels spun and shot the chalks out as well as one of the ramps, the drivers side of the car went down while the right stayed up and it squished up and bent the right side of the valance
i wasnt happy at all

you can do it with the tranny in. dropping the transfer case makes it easier, but it's not strictly neccesary either.

well the transfer case is a lot easier to remove than the transmission.. took me about an hour and a half to drop mine. the tranny is not something I'd want to tackle without a lift though!
