I think the problem is not with engine height, but the front to rear clearance with the oil pan. On earlier motors, people were swapping the rear located sump, for a front located sump from an e34.

It's odd to me that Andrew pops in once in a blue moon - post up something then leaves. Not sure of the motive. Odd. I would think that time would bring a bit more resolution, and even laughing at one's-self. (I'm so glad there wasn't an internet when I was growing up - or there would be a really funny video of me loosing an eyebrow)

Just cause I remember, the subframe mod deal - it was to run a stock viscous fan. He assumed alpina did - and would not waver from running one. A short google search showed that they ran an electric fan.



BTW Lee - yea the oil pan clearance is solved with an e34 pan IIRC - it's been over 10 years since I've done my swap.

Correct. I had forgotten it was an M30, not the usual M50 conversion. My bad.
