The knuckle doesn't need to be modified if you mount the rack on the non-PAS rack mounting holes.

Have fitted E36, E46 and Z3 racks this way with no problems.
I havent taken a look myself but I assume, from pics the pic below, that there are 2 mounting holes on the tabs:

I assume that the steering rack is normally mounted on the inside holes and the NON-PAS racks are mounted on the outside holes. So has anyone mounted the steering rack on the outside holes and NOT had to modify the knuckle on non-airbag E30s?

Also, does anyone know where specifically the knuckle is being shaven to avoid binding? I'd rather do it before I install the knuckle.

I hope whoever bent those tabs like that didn't just bend them back up and kept on driving...

Let me rephrase that, where on the top of the rack do those spacers go? I know how to do the knuckle, and I also now see it says two of the spacers are for the knuckle. But the other ones, I didn't see them in the install guide.

That's actually from the DIY guide. I now notice how far they were bent..

couldnt you just jack the engine up a lil bit?

also how much for the second set of spacers but without the steering knuckle ones (wont work for us driving on the wrong side of the road using the right units of speed).
