Default mass airflow sensor

ok. so i have an 88' ix and it has a huge airbox with a huge, very restrictive, heavy mass air flow sensor.(thing attatched to airbox) is there any way to buy another one and swap it because that thing is huge and useless?

What happens when you remove the AFM/MAF? Will the car still run?

no. The ECU needs to know the volume of air entering the engine. You can convert from an AFM to a MAF which is much less restrictive. Don't use the acronyms synonymous, they are not the same thing, though they do the same basic function (meter air).
