Default Auto transmission problems

I have a 89' 325i with 19x,000 miles and to my knowledge it has the original transmission, the first time the car shifts into 2nd after sitting over night it has to be revved over 4,000 rpms before it shifts. After the first shift it works perfect. Any ideas? Also of the car runs for a little while before driving it doesn't do it as bad. Thanks guys

Common problem, I have replied to a couple threads on this so if you search on governor and should bring one up.

Normal. I think the tranny needs to warm up.

Definitely not normal, it takes 4-5k to get it to shift and very annoying. I have had this issue when the quad rings in the governor were bad. It is only the first shift then it is fine after even still cold.

I don't think it's normal or caused by the tranny being cold. I've let the car run for a good 10 minutes in drive and it still persists.
