I know that this subject has been beaten to death, I have searched and found different information from different sources about wiring my m50 im just looking for a little help. I have a 325is build date 06/87 with a auto 93 m50 that I have in. Is there any site or write up that can tell me what wires attach to what other wires (if from AKG please help me understand it) Thanks so much!

I know this has been said many times, but seriously the best way to do this is to get the ETM for the model year of your chassis and the one for your motor.
Then for the e30 side look for c101 connections and c104 till you have all the functions and colors then do the the same for the e36 motor but looking for x20 connector this time. then match the functions. Its the only way to know that your wiring is not the cause of problems later down the road. I can get my wiring diagram from my e30 side when i go home this weekend and write it down for you as i also have an 87 but there is a risk of it not being exactly the same. Thats why you wont really find write ups . If you have any problems figuring out what you need in the ETMs then I will be glad to help out and point you in the right direction. Once you know what to look for it take maybe 30 minutes to have the right diagram for your application.

Yeah, you need to use the ETM. Then verify your colors match what the ETM is telling you.
I spent 2+ hours a day for 2 weeks working on my wiring and making an adapter for my m50 swap. It paid off as everything works perfectly and I now have a full understanding of the engine wiring. I put a 91 m20 in my 87 325is last week, and didn't check the pinouts. I melted the engine harness and wasted 10+ hours to remove the harness, rewire it, and then reinstall it. And now I have a hacked harness. All because I went off of info on forums and not the ETM.

What you need to do is look at the ETM and make an adapter. If you look in the faq section there is a link to the ETM.

Attached is my XL spreadsheet, for 92 M50 N/V manual into a 5/87 e30 cabrio.
Although this should work for you - please, please, take the time to verify YOUR wiring colors match. Rick

FYI there have been a few people that have gotten bad harness' from AKG. I imagine they use their diagrams so I recommend double checking everything they have. They are amazing with bushings and such, but wiring may not be there "piece of cake".

No, that is wrong. Many people have learned this the hard way, and people with no experience continue to spread this misinformation. Do not use anyone's "pin out charts". Look at the factory schematics, and make your own diagrams, like I've said. Unless you like watching your car burn down. Quote:
I'll even go one step further and do the hard part for you. Here's the schematics: http://www.wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm |
